Wybong Road (Roxburgh Road - Mangoola Mine Northern Access Road) Upgrade
Whats happening with The Xstrata Wybong Road 'Upgrade'
- The 'Bengalla Link Road Extension' to Wybong Road was opened to traffic on 7 Sept 2009. This permits through traffic to and from Wybong (to Singleton and beyond) to travel at 100km/hr from go and to avoid Muswellbrook in total by using the Thomas Mitchell Drive bypass.
- Journey time from Wybong to Singleton is reduced approx 15 minutes (near 20%). Wear and tear on vehicles may reduce following completion of improved road surfaces and alignments. Animal collisions (kangaroo, wallaby, wombat, reptiles...) WILL increase due to habitat loss as mine progresses.

- The Castlerock Rd intersection will be upgraded to an unknown configuration - XSTRATA AND MSC REFUSE TO MAKE THE CONFIGURATION KNOWN however we have obtained the following construction diagram.
