Old Wybong Road - Kayuga Rd to Roxburgh Rd
Old Wybong Road (Kayuga Rd to Wybong Rd) will remain OPEN indefinitely.
- In 2006 Centennial Coal EA disclosed Councils intention to close Wybong Road in their Anvil Hill Mine EA Main document and again in Appendix 16.
- 6th May 2009 Council confirmed that $60,000 (dedicated in the Shire budget 2 years ago) of roadwork on Wybong Road at Roxburgh Hill would take place, prior to june 30 2009.
- On 27th April & 11 May 2009 Council confirmed in writing that Wybong Road 'East' will be remain a public road until some time after the Mt Pleasant Western and Northern Link Roads have been constructed.
- 23 June 2009 Muswellbrook Shire Council ripped up 700m of the surface of the 1.2km of affected road.
-
24 June 2009 an additional 2 inches of road base was roller compacted onto the pre-existing base prior to rain setting in.
-
On 26 June 2009 Muswellbrook Shire Council sealed the road surface.
-
Within a week the first potholes on the newly laid surface were filled - the price of Council not allowing the saturated base to dry prior to sealing.
-
Thanks to Council for repairing the road but no thanks to Council for the usual rush job that may yet prove to be substandard.
-
The question that remains is "does 700m of resealing really cost $60,000?" and if not "where did the rest of the money go instead of repairing the entire 1.2 km?"

Wybong Action Group will be seeking the answers and reporting them on the website below.
